Pomp and Circumstance

Thursday, August 19th, 2004

GRADUATED FROM NGEE ANN POLY! Haha…OK, had to make this quick post before I get back on board the boat to Tekong. Took quite a few pictures with friends and lecturers, enjoyed the food and atmosphere as well. Saw quite a few people in green - I suppose we’re the earliest batch to enter military service. Ah well, if you get in fast, you get out fast.

The Beauty - and the Cruelty - of it all

Monday, May 31st, 2004

Okay I finally found some time to blog about what happened the past few days. Firstly I’ve been coding for days, getting the project that I’m working on to work correctly and make it “elegant” in terms of OOP.

Then on Saturday went to a…what is it called?…youth event? Don’t know how to call it haha, but its quite fun lah, though a bit tiring. Either I’m need to get fit or I’m frankly getting too old for playing “kids games”. Haha. Then I was on my way home and reached it at 9:45ish, and then went straight to bed…too tired to do any programming for the day.

Thinking about what two of my friends said about me at that event got me thinking - is this really me? “Quiet”? Certainly, they were not the first to say that - the first being a friend back in the year 2000 at the APEC Youth Science Festival when she said that I was quiet when compared to other guys - and I wasn’t really surprised by their comment on my character - rather, I was expecting it - most of the times when I am quiet are the times when I am in silent contemplation about a thought.

I almost forgot, the view of the shoreline in the evening is wonderful. Just standing there (text censored by author’s subconscious) makes me think about my (text censored by author’s subconscious) life. I wonder if (text censored by author’s subconscious).

Saturday’s event prompted me to really think about myself. Inevitably, the issue will crop up, and I was expecting it, even dreading it. Personally, I don’t know what to do right now. It’s kind of a strange feeling you get, because on the one hand I want to believe whatever I want to believe in because those beliefs make a person who he/she is today, and on the other, there is the promise of the truth and discarding your previous beliefs (flashback to Morpheus offering Neo the blue and red pills). It’s a really hard decision, because there are not too many people to help you choose - i.e. your friends, patron god(s), your parents, a religious leader or yourself. I only have two choices by my reckoning - either I trust a patron’s decision (if there ever is a meta-physical manifestation of my current or future patron god(s)), or I decide for myself. Being as a person who has mostly relied on himself, and only using faith as the last means of resort, I guess the decision lies with me then. However, the other issue is that if I decide on a choice, is it because I want to be accepted by other people, or is it because I truly belief in the faith? You see the dilemma? The beauty - and the cruelty - of it all?

Pre-Results Worrying Syndrome

Thursday, May 27th, 2004

To all of my friends who are waiting for their results:

GO TO SLEEP LAH! STOP BEING WORRY-WARTS!

The End of FYP!

Tuesday, April 13th, 2004

Okay finally the FYP Report has been submitted, and most of my friends are hibernating at home for the lack of sleep while doing the report…LOL! Yes, at last, I can finally start focusing on learning game development! Anyway went to Macs for lunch today after school at a kosher shopping centre and saw a weird kiosk with an ez-link sticker on it and a TV in the restaurant…both not working. Wish I knew what they were. Ah well. Then went to look for a comic, and found Darkminds. Cool.

I just tried getting to sleep…no use…haha I remember last time when I had a camp and I went back home to sleep at about 1, then woke up at about 6 or 7+ at night…no one was in the house…and I felt groggy and couldn’t remember what was the time or date…LOL…so wierd, its just like being in a computer game.

Splinter Cell Makes Your Brain Splinter

Friday, April 2nd, 2004

Having a slight headache now…withdrawal symptoms from playing Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow for three straight hours. Urgh. Feel like lying down to rest, but I wanna blog first!

Haha today was quite ok day la…had laser tech this morning - one practical on Brewster’s Angle at the Photonics lab at the engineering block there, and then went for stock market tutorial after lunch, then rushed home to watch Kim Possible. Pretty standard day.

Darn, have to complete FYP report, and I’m stuck at the Introduction. Sianz…haha…

Now on to more…personal issues
Have I fallen from grace? By the innocence that made me, preserve me from falling.

Eagerly Awaiting Prom Night

Wednesday, March 31st, 2004

Okay, people, new website design coming up! Stay tuned!

Haha ok besides that little announcement I wanna make, I read a friend’s blog that she’s going to change from LiveJournal to Blogger, because its more customizable. You go, girl!

Darn, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow is really fun to play, and its so much more challenging than the original game. Come to think of it, it was about a year ago that the game was released. Heh heh.

*Checks his calendar*
April 1 - The Passion of the Christ movie opens in Singapore. (*shrugs* I feel really strange about Christianity. No idea why.)

April 9 - Good Friday (*sigh* I’m being invited to a Church outing that feels uninviting to me…I’d rather stay at home at this rate if there aren’t any inviting invitations :\)

May 12th - PROM NIGHT! Coincidentally, my secondary school graduation night was held at the same place as the one that the school has organized for us…hahaz…

Strawberry McColossal = Sugary Cough Syrup

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2004

Today’s lunch - Strawberry McColossal. The McColossal’s fine, but the strawberry sauce they use tastes like sugary cough syrup. Bleh. *Note to self: Only eat chocolate McColossal.* Anyway, I went back to my secondary school today to gather more info and requirements from teachers there. Hopefully can finish the whole thing by Thursday, work on the PocketPC application on Friday and beautify the thing by Saturday morning.
