Convergent devices and iPod killers, eat yer heart out.

For my SGD$360 second hand Dell X51v PDA has arrived from the USA! Unlike typical models out now in the market (even the latest Acer n311 PDA), it has a 624MHz XScale chip, 2700G graphics accelerator, and two I/O slots (CompactFlash and SecureDigital) instead of only one! Not to mention, it also has built-in 802.11b and Bluetooth! It’s amazing what 4 years of technological advancement for the PDAs has done (The X51v was first released in 2005).

This is a really powerful PDA, the last PDA I had was a Palm IIIxe which could barely play Pokemon Yellow in a GameBoy emulator, was available in black & white LCD only, had NO expansion slots at all and hangs quite often. Now, I can read PDF files, play GameBoy Advanced games, and also watch anime on the go! Though the hanging issue still remains…maybe it’s a Windows Mobile OS? LOL.

Bad thing about this PDA though, is the battery life - if I play GBA games it will last for about an hour or so. I’m not sure if its because the battery is starting to have the memory effect, but I’m happy with it for now.
